Force fields

In physics, a force field is a region where forces are present. For example, the force of gravity, electromagnetism, and the nuclear forces that hold atoms together.

In the age of sail, forces like ocean currents and trade winds could make or break a journey.

In a force field analysis, you compare the forces for and against any change you want to make — the forces that propel you forward and the ones that hold you back. You can use the size or length of the arrows to show the magnitude of the force.

Is it time to make a change? What are the forces that will help the change? What are the forces against it? Can you make a force field diagram to help you think about the change?
