Pros and cons

In a 1772 letter to a friend facing a difficult dilemma, Benjamin Franklin was the first to articulate the now-famous pro-and-con list as an aid for decision-making. He described it like a balance sheet or scale, assigning relative weights to the thoughts on either side of the page.
