Hole

There are times when you find yourself in a hole, with no easy way to get out. A dark night of the soul.

The first law of holes: If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging. You may not feel like you’ve been digging, but chances are there might be habits and routines that are contributing to your situation.

The second law of holes: If you stop digging, you’re still in a hole. If you’re in a hole, you can’t talk yourself out of it. You have to work yourself out.

The most important step in getting out of a hole is admitting that you’re in one. The second most important thing is to do something different. Experiment with new ways of doing things. The first thing you try may not work. But if you’re persistent and keep trying, eventually you will find something that works.

Do you feel like you’re in a hole? Can you stop digging? What can you do differently?
