Literally, a path is a trail that is created when people or animals follow the same course over time. A path can be any route or set of steps that gets you from here to there.
In fairy tales, the path is usually the safest course. Little Red Riding Hood was warned to stay on the path. In The Wizard of Oz, the yellow brick road was the path to follow if you wanted to meet the wizard. Straying off the path leads to uncertainty and potential danger.
What path are you on today? Where does it lead? Is it the right path for you? Do you know where you want to go? Can you find the right path?
