Altitude is the height of something in relation to ground level.
When you are on the ground, you can see your situation in great detail. If you can get up above the ground in an airplane, you can see the bigger picture; the shape and flow of the terrain and how things fit together. Going still higher you can gain a satellite view of the situation.
Determining the right altitude can be key to how you think about your situation.
