When asked “why climb a mountain?” Mountaineer George Mallory famously answered “because it is there.” A mountain stands as a challenge, a call to adventure. It promises just about everything that makes life worth living: physical and mental challenges, danger, thrills, lofty peaks, placid meadows, dazzling views.
A mountain-climbing expedition requires planning, equipment, maps and gear, and a team with a shared goal. A business, development process, or project can be like a mountain-climbing expedition.
What is your big goal? How will you know when you get there? Who is on the team? What equipment, maps and gear do you need? What is your plan? Have you considered worst-case scenarios? What is your contingency plan if things go wrong?
